images for magazine

These are only some of the images that i have taken for my magazine i chose to have them basic becuase im going to edit them a lot to look simular to the magazine " little white lies" for that magazine basically the front covers look like a cartoon i think this is achieved by using a graphics tablets to draw the image. The magazine is very over the top and breaks all of the rules for a magazine.

This image here is an example of what i was thinking about doing in photo shop with some of the images, making them look very bright and different and edit them so that they dont look like a photo any more.

starting music magazine

The name of my magazine is going to be "Jett". I have chosen this because it i have chosen this becuase it is edgy and up to date as well as this it is a surname of the guitarist from "The Runnaways" Joan Jett and it sounds fastpaced and entertaining, just like my magazine is going to be. It will cost £4.50, this may seem quite expensive, but it is going to be an independant magazine and I will need to cover costs. I have chosen it to be indendant, so I can be as artistic as I like with it, and not follow a certain house style or the normal conventions of a magazine. The target audience is going to be late teenage, early twenties, mainly women but also men. This is quite a niche market as women don't have a lot of say when it comes to music magazines, it is usually just pop. The main rivals to my magazine will probably be "Q" magazine, and "NME". However as I have already mentioned, I a angling more towards women, so this will not be such a problem.

Gene simmons interview analysis(double page spread)

Who is the target audience?
The target audience is mainly males that are interested in rock music in thier mid 40's or older.

How is the audience made appealing?
The big main picture to catch the readers attention- his signature look ( his make-up that he wears all of the time) photographs at the bottom showing previous events that he has done, also showing his time before kiss.

What language is used to describe simmons?
Chatty informative it also seems to be very immature in a way almost child like he talks with a self entered tone such as ' Bob Dylan wore white face paint on the rolling thunder tour becuse kiss asked him"

How is Gene Simmons represented in the article?
He seems to be big headed about his fame and thinks that he's better than he actually is. When he talks about his children it shows a more caring down to earth side which also seems to be quite intimidating.

Overall i think that the writer is trying to get the most out of Gene that is possible he asks him verys personal questions that are answered by Gene's witty comments. I think with this article it's trying to show Gene Simmons the 'rock star' but also a quite level headed version of himself.

Local cinemas

I have done some research on what cinemas are in east sussex what films they play and if they are a indepedant cinema or mainstream one.

- Hastings
-Odeon- Is a multi-screen cinemar showing a programme of current releases.
On this programme they include ( 3.1.10)

- Alvin and the chipmunks the squeakquel
- Amelia
- Avatar 2d
- Did you hear about the Morgans?
- Fantastic Mr. Fox
- Sherlock Holmes
- St. Trinnians 2 : The legend of Fritton's gold

Where the odeon is a mainstream cinema is has films to attract all audiences but mainly they focus more on family based films they tend to have more of them avalible.

- Eletric palace- is an independant digital cinema showing art house and classic films.
On the programme the include

- Moon
- Lomax the song hunter
- Mad, bad and sad
- Frozen river
- Hidden conections : The open road
- Life is a long quiet river
- Away days
- 35 shots of rum
- The private lives of Pippa Lee
- The september issue

The eletric palace only bases on underground films , cult films and not very known films so they show a variety of the selected films but with one screen they cant show many in one day, which doesnt compare very well with the odeon.

-Eastbourne
-Curzon- Independent cinema showing a mix of current blockbusters, foreign and independent films

On the programme it includes
- Avatar in 2d
- Nine
- Sherlock Holmes
- St Trinnans 2 : the legend of Frittons gold

The selcetion of films that they have at the moment seem very limited.

-Cineworld-
On the programme it includes
-Alvin and the chipmunks 2 : the squeakquel
- Avatar 2d
- A christmas carol 3d
- Did you hear about the Morgans?
- Nine
- Sherlock Holmes
- St. Trinnians 2 : The legend of Frittion's gold

This cinemar has a good variety of films which attract all different audiences.

magazine cover analysis

Here is a teene vogue cover from may 2009. With the ' teen vogue' the typography is always the same and is always in the same place which is shown as thier logo, the only difference is with different issues the colors will change most of the time the 'teen' and 'vogue'will be in different colours. The typography on the 'teen' will be in lower case letters where as the vogue will be in capitals.

A color scheme has been used throughout the cover which are pastel colours that reflect a sort of layed back feel wich also reflects the impression we get from the picture of MileyCyrus. She has the daisys in her hair to show that she is suppose to be care free and her hair is loose which also shows that. The white dress that she is wearing could imply that she is pure and alsmost angelic which the sub-heading 'earth angels' this could show this further by saying that Miley looks almost hippy like.

The yellow circle behind 'girl hot vs guy hot' makes the pastel green stand out more also it does this at the bottom of the page with ' win' it draws your attention to it more becuase you can get something for nothing. The main heading 'sunny style' is yellow becuase there is a play on words with sunny as the text is yellow and that reflects the sun. The typography used under that heading shows sort of scratchy sort of style which is used normally for a sort of surfer/beach sort of look so the typography reflects to the words 'surfer' within the heading.
It appeals to it's audience by using the latest young stars , using slag language such as 'guy hot' and with the bright and simple layout.
